Dr David Allen - Non-Executive Director Ministry of Defence
Dr David Allen, a former Managing Director at BP, joined the Defence Board as a Non-Executive member on 11th January 2010.
Dr Allen has had a distinguished 30-year career with BP, working in many key areas of the BP Group, including most particularly in shaping and applying corporate strategy.
He joined BP Gas International in 1978, handling Middle East and Far East gas trading. He held various positions in the UK and internationally and was appointed Group Chief of Staff in 2000 and a Managing Director in 2005. He retired from BP in March 2008.
Since his retirement, he has built a portfolio primarily centred around energy, science, technology and education, that has seen him appointed as a Non Executive Director and Advisor to the management Boards of a number of companies.
He holds a doctorate in chemistry from Oxford University, and is married with three children.
