The formation of DBS will bring together a range of corporate services that have previously been delivered by different parts of the MOD from across the Top Level Budgets (TLBs).
The DBS will serve the whole of the MOD through one service delivery organisation managed through one top management structure. The first pillars in this new organisation will be formed by:-
- Civilian HR (provided by the former PPPA and civilian HR staff from the TLBs)
- Finance (principally provided by the former Financial Management Shared Services Centre)
- Knowledge and Information, and
- National security vetting (provided by the former Defence Vetting Agency (DVA).
Other areas from within MOD will join progressively and may include Military HR (provided by Service Personnel and Veterans Agency (SPVA). All are expected to be in place by 2013.
