Tregantle Fort

Situated in the Antony and Tregantle training areas in south-east Cornwall, just over the Tamar Bridge from Plymouth. Access is gained either via the A38 across the Tamar or via the Torpoint Ferry from Plymouth. The MOD's land stretches from the sandy beaches of Whitsand Bay across 308 hectares of rolling pasture to the mud estuary of the river Lynher. Tregantle Fort is the largest land fort in the Plymouth defences and is a scheduled Ancient Monument of hisorical and architectural importance. It was built in 1858-59 and includes a self-contained, ditched keep
