Maintenance Approved Organization Scheme (MAOS)

The Maintenance Approved Organization Scheme (MAOS) is a means by which the MOD can assess the competency of Organizations wishing to provide continuing airworthiness support services for military registered aircraft.

Details of the approval scheme, which is based upon European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) regulations (EASA Basic Regulation 216/2008, Implementation Rule 2042/2003) is published in MAA Regulatory Articles RA4800 – RA4999 series. The Regulatory Articles currently published (RA4800 – RA4825) allows the following approvals to be granted:

  • Organizations involved in the maintenance of military registered aircraft or components intended to be fitted to military registered aircraft shall be approved in accordance with the provisions of Mil Part 145. Note: There is currently a limited mandated scope for the requirement for Mil Part 145 Approval. This limited scope is described in MAA Regulatory Article RA1005

The scheme is administered by MAA Oversight & Approvals, to whom all enquiries with respect to the scheme should be directed.
