LFA 5

LFA 5 is located in East Anglia and covers Norfolk, northern Suffolk and most of Cambridgeshire. Major flying stations within it are RAF Marham, RAF Mildenhall and RAF Lakenheath. Other service establishments within LFA 5 include RAF Honington, the RAF Air Weapons Ranges on the Wash at Holbeach and Wainfleet, and the Army Field Training Centre at Stanford Camp.

LFA 5 is a relatively small area. It is used by fixed wing aircraft particularly those transitting to the Air Weapons Ranges. Helicopter activity is generally associated with Stanford and the United States Air Force based at RAF Mildenhall.

Usable area: 5,785 km2 (2,234 sq mls). This represents 2.9% of the total usable area of the UK Low Flying System.
