Quentin Davies MP

Quentin Davies MP has been appointed Minister for Defence Equipment and Support.

Quentin Davies was born in 1944 in Oxford. He studied at Cambridge, where he gained a First Class honours degree in history, and at Harvard where he was a Frank Knox Fellow. Before entering politics, he was successively in the British Diplomatic Service, and in investment banking, latterly as a Director and head of European Corporate Finance for Morgan Grenfell. Quentin Davies was first elected to Parliament in 1987 for Stamford and Spalding and, since the boundary changes in 1997, he has represented Grantham and Stamford. He was appointed as Minister for Defence Equipment and Support on 5 October 2008.

In Parliament he has had a series of roles on both front and the back benches, including in the Shadow Cabinet. He received the Spectator ‘Backbencher of the Year’ award in 1997. Before joining the government he had several non-executive positions in the private sector including member of the Council of Lloyds of London (one of the world’s largest insurance groups) and non-executive director of Vinci (the world’s largest construction company and second largest concessions group).

Quentin is married to Chantal and they have two sons Alex and Nick. They live in London and in Lincolnshire. Quentin enjoys reading, history, walking with his dog, the countryside and travel.

    • Logistic support including:
      Defence Support Group
      Defence Storage and Distribution Agency
  • Performance Management of DE&S including the Major Projects Report
  • National Defence Industries Council
  • Commercial Policy
  • Atomic Weapons Establishment
  • Defence exports including international aspects of defence equipment and support
  • UK/France High Level Working Group

    and will work with Lord Drayson on Acquisition Reform
