This guide provides information to Commanders on how to manage the available potable fluids in order to reduce the risk of dehydration-related heat injury during military operations in the heat. It must be noted that replacing sweat losses alone will not prevent heatillness, but it will help to reduce the risk when conducted in combination with strategies to manage heat stress. Heat casualties do not occur exclusively as a result of military operations during the summer months, or from duty in hot climates.
