AFCS Revised Legislation

The AFCS legislation, incorporating the remainder of the Lord Boyce recommendations, was laid in Parliament on Monday 28 February.

The Armed Forces and Reserve Forces (Compensation Scheme) Order 2011 (SI 2011 No.517) confirms that all recommendations from the Lord Boyce Review have now been implemented.  These changes will become operational on 9 May 2011.

Guide to the Criminal Injuries Compensation (Overseas) Scheme

The Ministry of Defence operates a discretionary ex-gratia scheme - called the Criminal Injuries Compensation (Overseas) (CIC(O)) Scheme - under which lump sum payments may be made to members of the Armed Forces and their accompanying eligible dependants who, while serving overseas, sustain injury (including death) directly attributable to a crime of violence. The scheme rules in place depend on the date of injury - see the guides below.

Criminal Injuries Compensation (Overseas) Scheme application form

This is the application form for the CIC(O) Scheme which provides compensation for Service personnel and their accompanying eligible dependants who, whilst serving overseas, sustain a criminal injury or death.

If you wish to lodge an application, you should contact the following as appropriate:

Army personnel - HQ Army Legal Assistance, Catterick Barracks, Bielefeld Station, BFPO 39, Tel: Mil (9) 4881 3191 or 3196, Civil: 00 49 521 9254 3191 or 3196.

RAF personnel - OC P1 or OC PSF at your unit

RN & RM personnel - Legal Aid Officer, HMS Nelson, Portsmouth, PO1 3HH.
