Implementation of Directive 2009/81/EC

MOD has led on the transposition into domestic legislation of the Defence and Security Directive, Directive 2009/81/EC, which introduces new procurement rules with the purpose of creating a level playing field for defence and security procurement in the European Union. 

MOD has now concluded two public consultation exercises on the approach taken to the  implementation of the Directive, and the results have been summarised in a Summary Response document which can be accessed via the link below. 

External links are also provided to the Defence and Security Directive 2009/81/EC, and to Statutory Instrument 2011 No. 1848 (the Defence and Security Public Contracts Regulations 2011) that has been laid before Parliament and will implement the Directive in the United Kingdom from 21 August 2011.
