04th May 2009 to 29th May 2009
BMATT (CZ) deployed a 4 man ICTT to Illyski Training Centre , near Almaty over the period 04th May 2009 to 29th May 2009. The task was to work alongside the Vyškov trained Kazakh instructors during the basic Peace Support Operations (PSO) Training of 2nd Battalion KAZBRIG.
The aim therefore was to deploy the ICTT to Kazahkstan to assist, advise and mentor in the PSO training of 2nd Battalion KAZBRIG incorporating a PSO Coy HQ training package in order to further develop Kazahk Armed Forces PSO capabilities. The aim was achieved with 165 Kazahk personnel, rank ranged Private to Captain, being trained in basic PSO tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) and 8 officers trained during the HQ package.
The underpinning idea for the ICTT was to place more emphasise on the Air Mobile Force to deliver independent basic PSO training and to further develop their own institionalised training capability. Therefore the training programme was tailored to encompass basic, practically based, PSO training (delivered by Kazakh instructors) and a Coy HQ package as a foundation of further progressive training culminating in the British, US and Kazakhstan combined Exercise STEPPE EAGLE in September 2009.
