Waste Strategy

The Waste Strategy sets out the steps MOD will need to take to meet our waste objectives, including meeting the Government's 2016/17 waste targets of reducing waste arisings by 20%, increasing waste recovery (recycling) to 80% of waste arisings and improving the quality of our waste data so we can improve waste management.

Sustainable Development Checklist

Taking sustainable development considerations into account involves weighing the social and environmental as well as economic impacts in the decisions we make.

This guide helps individuals and MOD staff to develop submissions and briefings, including to Ministers, to identify sustainable development aspects of their proposal so that they can include an assurance that they have been taken into consideration and explain any mitigation or benefits.

This guide is not intended to be used as a tool to appraise or evaluate sustainability.

MOD Timber Strategy

The MOD Strategy for Procurement of Legal and Sustainable Timber was introduced as of 1 October 2005 and applies to commercial timber and timber products.

The definitions of timber, including legal, recycled and virgin timber, are at Annex A of the Strategy. This policy does not apply to paper, paper products and card, for which is covered by a separate MOD Strategy
